Sixth Form Council
All Year 12 students are offered the opportunity during the summer term to apply for the roles of Senior Council Member or Council Member. These positions are highly prestigious within Mayflower High School, and the school sets very high expectations for all council members. The roles and responsibilities of the council are detailed below:
Council members are selected through a letter of application submitted to the Head of Sixth Form. In their application, students must explain why they would be an excellent addition to the Sixth Form Council. Shortlisted candidates are then individually interviewed by the Sixth Form Team and the Headteacher. During the interview, students are required to deliver a presentation outlining their qualities, ideas for improving Sixth Form life, and their vision for future enhancements.
The council meets regularly to organise social events, propose ideas for charity fundraising initiatives, and represent the Sixth Form at both formal and informal school functions. Council members have developed a range of ideas to enhance Sixth Form life and are eager to put these into action. Working alongside Dr Fawell and other staff, council members aim to make a meaningful impact on the school and bring their initiatives to fruition.
